Southampton returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking after beating Leeds United 1-0 at Wembley Stadium in the Championship play-off final.
Adam Armstrong's first-half goal proved the difference as Southampton held Leeds at bay to secure their return to the top flight after a one-year absence.
The Saints started the game brightly and took the lead in the 23rd minute when Armstrong latched onto a through ball from Nathan Redmond and fired past Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
Leeds pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but Southampton defended resolutely to hold on to their lead and secure promotion.
It is a great day for Southampton and their fans, who will be delighted to see their team back in the Premier League.
