Timberwolves Rally Falls Short

DALLAS, Texas—Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving combined for 63 points as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 117-101 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Sunday night. The Mavericks took an early lead and never looked back, building a 20-point advantage in the first half. The Timberwolves made a run in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to single digits, but the Mavericks responded with a 13-0 scoring run to put the game away. Doncic finished with 32 points, 17 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Irving added 31 points and 5 assists. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 21 points, but he was the only Timberwolves player to score more than 15 points. The Mavericks will host the Timberwolves in Game 2 on Tuesday night.
