Heat Wave to Hit Egypt, Temperatures to Reach 36°C
Heat Advisory in Effect
EMA Warns of Extreme Temperatures, High UV Index
Cairo, Egypt - A heat wave is expected to grip Egypt from Friday to Wednesday, with temperatures reaching up to 36°C on the northern coasts during the day. The heat wave is the latest in a series of extreme weather events that have hit the country in recent weeks.
According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), the heat wave will bring hot and dry conditions to much of the country. UV index levels are also expected to rise to 11, indicating a high risk of sunburn and other sun-related health problems. As such, the EMA has strongly recommended that people take precautions to protect themselves from the sun, such as wearing sunscreen, seeking shade, and staying hydrated.
The heat wave is particularly concerning in Cairo, which is home to over 20 million people. The city is known for its high levels of air pollution, which can exacerbate the effects of heat on human health. The EMA has advised residents of Cairo to avoid spending prolonged periods of time outdoors, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
