American sprinter makes history in Oregon

McLaughlin-Levrone runs 50.68 seconds at the Prefontaine Classic

American sprinter Sydney McLaughlin broke her own 400m hurdles world record again on Saturday at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.

The 22-year-old ran a time of 50.68 seconds, breaking the previous record of 51.41 seconds that she set in June.

McLaughlin-Levrone's performance was all the more impressive considering that she was running into a headwind.

It was the first time a woman has broken the 51-second barrier in the event.

McLaughlin-Levrone's victory was the highlight of a strong day for the Americans at the Prefontaine Classic. Other American winners included Noah Lyles in the 200m, Trayvon Bromell in the 100m, and Ryan Crouser in the shot put.

McLaughlin-Levrone's world record is the latest in a string of impressive performances by the American sprinter. She is now the favorite to win gold in the 400m hurdles at the upcoming World Championships in Eugene.
